Holiday Season

The great Christmas season is upon us! The kids had a great time at the parade downtown. The Christmas tree is up, the stockings are hung, and the children are enjoying the holiday treats, but of course we miss daddy terribly. We are thinking of going to California for Christams. It will be a lot of traveling, but I also think it will be a lot of fun. We plan on leaving when Xander is off for winter break. It has almost been a month since Steve left, but it seems just like yesterday. Stevie cried a lot last night because she "wants daddy home." We agreed that today she would write him a Christmas card telling him how much she misses him. She stated that it would need to have a lot of "tears" colored on the card. Sometimes I feel that the kids' sadness is what makes it the hardest. I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. Lots of love from the Betts Clan!

When it Pours Make Bread!!!

Hello everyone! Steve has made it safely to his new home. I will be emailing everyone his new address. He is working 12 hour shifts 9am to 9pm. He likes it because it keeps him very busy; it gives him less time to think. This weekend in Hawaii we had a hurricane watch- it rained A LOT!! Luckily it passed with no damage- except for me being trapped indoors with three kids the whole weekend. In order to enjoy the cooler weather we made bread and chilli- yeah, it really wasn't cold enough for chilli. I think the coolest it got was about 75 degress during the day. Well, Stevie has decided that she will be changing Chance's diaper when he goes #1; however, Chance was not in agreement. So the weekend was spent with a four year-old girl chasing a two year old naked boy with a diaper. It was pretty funny. I have to laugh or else I end up in the nut farm.

Ground Hog Day!

As an introduction I would like to let you know that we started this blog to make it easy to keep everyone informed about our family's struggles and joys. We got the idea for the blog from my very good friends Nellie and Rob- who as many of you know had triplets (Yep, THREE babies on November 4th, 2008).

As most of you know, Steve left for the "desert" on November 17, 2008. Yep, we are doing it again. The amazing thing about it is that no matter how many times we are apart it never gets easier. The kids are trying to adjust and of course I have to put my "game face on." The hardest thing is to continue doing day-to-day activites as if everything was okay. Steve called me today, November 19, 2008 and let me know that he has made it. Soon he will arrive at his place of duty and begin the count down. We appreciate all of your thoughts and prayers and urge you to keep them coming- I am home with the kids so I will probably need them most. As soon as we get Steve's address it will be posted so that those who are interested in sending him letters or care packages can do so- I am sure he will appreciate it.
